April 19, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Friday's trading session at a record high of 70,909.90 showing an increase of 619.79 points or 0.88%.

The index traded in a range of 782.05 points showing an intraday high of 70,968.98 (+678.86) and a low of 70,186.93 (-103.19) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 214.725 million shares.

Advancers to decliners remained balanced, with 50 companies closing up and 46 closing down.

Meanwhile 3 were unchanged and 1 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Commercial Banks with 231.57, Fertilizer with 174.07, Power Generation & Distribution with 110.01, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 105.24, and Refinery with 25.75 points.

On the contrary, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 27.86, Cement with 22.85, Engineering with 12.82, Textile Composite with 8.58, and Leather & Tanneries with 6.98 points.

Companies adding points to the index were HUBC with 116.29, EFERT with 60.73, MEBL with 51.57, BAHL with 47.47, and OGDC with 45.62 points.

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were SYS with 17.99, ISL with 9.81, LUCK with 8.94, KAPCO with 7.85 and PTC with 7.61 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 46,547.23 with a net gain of 339.38 points.

Total market volume was 475.834 million shares compared to 440.314 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs23.22 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.15bn.

There were 231,941 trades reported in 368 companies with 199 closing up, 148 closing down and 21 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 29,457 points or 71.06% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 8,459 points, equivalent to 13.54%.
