December 26, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 110,423.32, showing a decrease of 1,991.48 points or 1.77%.
The index traded in a range of 2,621.72 points showing an intraday high of 112,480.60 (+65.80) and a low of 109,858.88 (-2,555.92) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 274.82 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 23 closed up, 76 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.
Top losers during the day were SHEL (-6.98%), PIOC (-5.95%), CHCC (-5.75%), GLAXO (-5.67%), and TGL (-4.73%).
On the other hand, top gainers were PGLC (+10.02%), TRG (+9.87%), PKGP (+3.86%), NESTLE (+2.75%), and UBL (+2.67%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-259.05pts), OGDC (-227.58pts), PPL (-191.25pts), MARI (-167.91pts), and LUCK (-149.94pts).
Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were UBL (+157.25pts), TRG (+79.60pts), MCB (+60.11pts), PKGP (+18.04pts), and NESTLE (+14.85pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-645.37pts), Cement (-370.34pts), Fertilizer (-334.25pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-134.47pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-127.37pts).
While the index was supported by Automobile Parts & Accessories (+7.82pts), Commercial Banks (+5.86pts), Property (+4.00pts), Food & Personal Care Products (+1.12pts), and Leasing Companies (+0.47pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 69,489.65 with a net loss of 1,178.43 points or 1.67%.
Total market volume was 628.03 million shares compared to 880.60m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs33.58 billion showing a decrease of Rs20.87bn.
There were 322,989 trades reported in 450 companies with 113 closing up, 284 closing down, and 53 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 31,978 points or 40.77% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 47,972 points or 76.82% so far this calendar year.
