Dec 17, 2021 (MNL): Following yesterday’s sell off, market staged a comeback today with a 169 points gains and closed at 43,901 level.
However, market remained range bound throughout the day today amid lack of positive triggers as foreign exchange reserves declined by $123mn WoW, clocking-in at $25bn. Furthermore, LSM output for Oct-21 declined by 1.2% YoY, while overall 4MFY22 output increased by 3.6%, depicting a moderate growth during the period.
On the annoucement front, Octopus Digital Limited (OCTOPUS), has approved the resolution to further issue shares by way of other than right. Moreover, Lalpir Power Limited and Pakgen Power Limited both have announced a 2nd interim cash dividend of Re.1 per share i.e., 10%, taking cumulative cash dividend to Rs2 per share for the year ended December 31, 2021.
The Index traded in a range of 445.90 points or 1.02 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 44,000.95 and a low of 43,555.05.
Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 53 closed up 36 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 105.08 million shares.
Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 70 points, Commercial Banks with 60 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 35 points, Engineering with 28 points and Technology & Communication with 28 points.
The most points added to the index was by SYS which contributed 48 points followed by HBL with 42 points, LUCK with 27 points, PPL with 20 points and OGDC with 14 points.
Sector wise, the index was let down by Chemical with 32 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 13 points, Refinery with 13 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 7 points and Fertilizer with 5 points.
The most points taken off the index was by COLG which stripped the index of 25 points followed by TRG with 16 points, ENGRO with 10 points, MEBL with 8 points and FFC with 7 points.
All Share Volume decreased by 59.87 Million to 252.20 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.19.87 Billion.
Total companies traded were 327 compared to 345 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 180 closed up, 132 closed down while 15 remained unchanged.
Total trades decreased by 30,563 to 98,685.
