PSX Closing Bell: One More Red Nightmare

July 05, 2022 (MLN): Trading activity on Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained lacklustre on Tuesday as investors chose to stay sidelines amid concerns about a delay in the IMF program as quoted on different social media sources.

Accordingly, the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session with a 245.62 point or 0.59 percent decline to close at 41,102.57.

The Index traded in a range of 385.51 points or 0.93 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 41,453.06 and a low of 41,067.55.

Of the 89 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 25 closed up 64 closed down, while 0 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 41.39 million shares.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 81 points, Cement with 50 points, Fertilizer with 36 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 17 points and Tobacco with 16 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HBL which stripped the index of 27 points followed by FFC with 18 points, BAFL with 18 points, MLCF with 17 points and EPCL with 16 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 12 points, Technology & Communication with 7 points, Automobile Assembler with 3 points, Real Estate Investment Trust with 1 points and Transport with 1 points.

The most points added to the index was by DAWH which contributed 13 points followed by SYS with 7 points, INDU with 5 points, LOTCHEM with 5 points and ICI with 5 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 9.73 Million to 76.89 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.49.98 Billion.

Total companies traded were 321 compared to 303 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 119 closed up, 176 closed down while 26 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 12,962 to 50,223.

Value Traded decreased by 0.65 Billion to Rs.2.40 Billion
