October 02, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 81,967.00, showing an increase of 162.41 points or 0.20%.
Brokerage house Ismail Iqbal Securities said the benchmark index ended on a positive note today despite volatility throughout the session driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The index traded in a range of 830.83 points showing an intraday high of 82,360.28 (+555.69) and a low of 81,529.45 (-275.14) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 154.65 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 44 closed up, 54 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.
Top gainers during the day were PKGP (+10.00%), FHAM (+3.49%), ILP (+3.39%), FCCL (+2.97%), and APL (+2.93%).
On the other hand, top losers were HGFA (-4.48%), PAEL (-4.23%), YOUW (-4.16%), KOSM (-3.24%), and CHCC (-3.01%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were UBL (+91.33pts), FFC (+60.79pts), MCB (+39.87pts), ENGRO (+39.25pts), and PKGP (+38.50pts).
Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were HUBC (-83.89pts), MARI (-81.14pts), EFERT (-57.38pts), BAHL (-28.82pts), and CHCC (-20.37pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+195.30pts), Fertilizer (+50.01pts), Textile Composite (+24.10pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+22.88pts), and Leather & Tanneries (+15.95pts).
While the index was let down by Power Generation & Distribution (-56.77pts), Automobile Assembler (-25.95pts), Engineering (-17.31pts), Cable & Electrical Goods (-14.76pts), and Chemical (-13.90pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 52,322.23 with a net gain of 55.67 points or 0.11%.
Total market volume was 360.99 million shares compared to 359.08m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs15.39 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.77bn.
There were 203,155 trades reported in 448 companies with 164 closing up, 221 closing down, and 63 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 3,522 points or 4.49% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 19,516 points, equivalent to 31.25%.
