October 11, 2023 (MLN): The local bourse continued to display strong performance in Wednesday’s trading session, further extending its gains.

KSE-100 index, the key benchmark for the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed in green for the eighth consecutive session, settling at 48,474.54 with an increase of 334.26 points or 0.69% DoD.

The index remained positive through the session showing an intraday high of 48,516.64 (+376.37) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 275.944 million shares.

In the current week, the KSE-100 Index has risen by 980.97 points, depicting an increase of 2.07%.

This is in addition to the 1,260.98 points or 2.73% gained during the previous week.

Accordingly, the total cumulative month-to-date gain stands at 2,241.95 points, which represents a substantial 4.85% increase.

In today's session, of the 100 index companies 59 closed up, 33 closed down, 4 were unchanged, while 4 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Fertilizer with 106.72, Power Generation & Distribution with 75.59, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 71.32, Food & Personal Care Products with 26.84, and Commercial Banks with 24.9 points.

Companies adding points to the index were HUBC with 51.64, FFC with 42.83, ENGRO with 39.3, PPL with 35.26, and EFERT with 28.76 points.

KSE-100 Index was let down by Engineering with 5.24, Pharmaceuticals with 4.86, Synthetic & Rayon with 3.96, Refinery with 3.88, and Cable & Electrical Goods with 2.11 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were TRG with 9.52, CHCC with 7.1, BAHL with 5.45, LUCK with 5.35 and IBFL with 3.96 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 32,372.16 with a net gain of 239.01 points.

Total market volume was 396.455 million shares compared to 350.068 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs10.53 billion showing a decrease of Rs0.23bn.

There were 154,977 trades reported in 362 companies with 194 closing up, 142 closing down and 26 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 7,022 points or 16.94% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 8,054 points, equivalent to 19.93% in the KSE-100.
