PSX Closing Bell: Lacklustre Performance

September 25, 2023 (MLN): The stock market opened the week on a positive note but failed to sustain the momentum and closed slightly lower than the previous day.

The benchmark KSE-100 index concluded Monday’s trading session at 46,393.68, marking a meager loss of 27.48 points or 0.06% DoD.

Investors remained cautious, eagerly awaiting major market developments.

The index traded in a range of 284.38 points showing an intraday high of 46,590.26 (+169.11) and a low of 46,305.88 (-115.27) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 89.592 million shares.

KSE-100 Intraday Performance

Of the 100 index companies 49 closed up, 44 closed down, 4 were unchanged, while 3 remained untraded.

KSE100 Index was let down by Automobile Assembler with 48.32, Commercial Banks with 36.83, Fertilizer with 25.91, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 19.48 and Technology & Communication with 6.56 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were MTL with 45.06, HBL with 35.25, SYS with 19.1, DAWH with 19.06 and UBL with 13.85 points.

KSE100 index was supported by Textile Composite with 27.2, Cement with 24.47, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 14.22, Miscellaneous with 11.57 and Property with 9.89 points.

Companies adding points to the index were ILP with 25.0, LUCK with 17.25, PSEL with 14.08, OGDC with 11.73 and TRG with 10.47 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 31,082.81 with a net gain of 79.82 points.

Total market volume was 195.67 million shares compared to 172.89 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs5.53 billion showing a decrease of Rs0.74bn.

There were 99,561 trades reported in 323 companies with 165 closing up, 134 closing down and 24 remaining unchanged.
