PSX Closing Bell: In a Euphoric State

October 05, 2023 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index ended Thursday's trading session at 47,452.38 showing an increase of 372.55 points or 0.79%.

The index remained positive through the session showing an intraday high of 47,484.56 (+404.73) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index saw a significant increase, almost doubling to 182.436 million shares as compared to 100.3m shares from the previous session.

The index has gained 1,220 points or 2.64% in the current week.

KSE-100 Intraday Performance

Of the 100 index companies 65 closed up, 28 closed down, 4 were unchanged, while 3 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Cement with 169.04, Commercial Banks with 60.13, Fertilizer with 52.73, Engineering with 28.89, and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 20.56 points.

Companies adding points to the index were LUCK with 37.91, MLCF with 29.18, CHCC with 25, EFERT with 24.66, and HBL with 23.27 points.

KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 55, Tobacco with 7.23, Power Generation & Distribution with 5.52, Sugar & Allied Industries with 2.16, and Insurance with 2.11 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were HUBC with 25.59, POL with 22.22, PPL with 13.32, OGDC with 13.05 and BAFL with 8.39 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 31,817.27 with a net gain of 231.59 points.

Total market volume was 462.866 million shares compared to 330.249 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs9.00 billion showing an increase of Rs1.69bn.

There were 138,412 trades reported in 351 companies with 237 closing up, 88 closing down and 26 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 6,000 points or 14.47% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 7,032 points, equivalent to 17.4% in the KSE-100.
