PSX Closing Bell: I Want It That Way

February 27, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 113,784.30, showing a decrease of 78.02 points or 0.07%.

The index traded in a range of 727.39 points showing an intraday high of 114,456.91 (+594.59) and a low of 113,729.52 (-132.80) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 207.29 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 39 closed up, 58 closed down, while 3 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were BIPL (-8.53%), MEHT (-8.42%), NCPL (-7.82%), NPL (-5.48%), and KOSM (-3.91%).

On the other hand, top gainers were PKGP (+7.21%), SNGP (+5.10%), TGL (+4.37%), SCBPL (+2.92%), and GHGL (+2.15%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were LUCK (-65.74pts), HBL (-39.11pts), MEHT (-30.86pts), PSO (-27.61pts), and HUBC (-24.04pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were OGDC (+67.76pts), PPL (+46.50pts), SNGP (+42.22pts), PKGP (+40.12pts), and MEBL (+34.72pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Cement (-131.69pts), Textile Composite (-51.92pts), Commercial Banks (-40.92pts), Pharmaceuticals (-18.61pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-13.34pts).

While the index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+86.42pts), Automobile Assembler (+28.39pts), Glass & Ceramics (+25.00pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+24.11pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+14.03pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 70,551.27 with a net loss of 38.29 points or 0.05%.

Total market volume was 397.39 million shares compared to 640.18m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs19.33 billion showing a decrease of Rs3.41bn.

There were 239,321 trades reported in 453 companies with 144 closing up, 253 closing down, and 56 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 35,339 points or 45.05% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 1,343 points or 1.17% so far this calendar year.
