PSX Closing Bell: How to Disappear Completely

May 10, 2023 (MLN): Following yesterday's bearish sentiments on the back of Imran Khan's arrest, the local bourse on Wednesday observed huge selling pressure. 

Accordingly, the benchmark KSE100 index ended the trading session with a loss of 298.86 points to close at 41,074.95. 

The Index traded in a range of 365.77 points or 0.88 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 41,407.09 and a low of 41,041.32.

 

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 23 closed up 71 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 53.04 million shares.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 76 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 64 points, Technology & Communication with 35 points, Miscellaneous with 32 points, and fertilizers with 29 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HBL which stripped the index of 34 points followed by PSEL with 32 points, SYS and OGDC with 29 points and HUBC with 19 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 10 points, Cement with 7 points, Property with 6 points and Transport with 1 point.

The most points added to the index were by DAWH which contributed 9 points followed by JVDC with 6 points, LUCK with 4 points, LOTCHEM with 3 points and MUREB with 2 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 103.87mn to 99.18mn shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs54.93 billion.

The total companies traded were 313 compared to 329 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 98 closed up, 194 closed down and 21 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 37,870 to 58,349.

Value Traded decreased by 2.54bn to Rs3.30bn.
