August 16, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 78,045.30, showing a marginal decrease of 60.68 points or 0.08%.
The index traded in a range of 578.09 points showing an intraday high of 78,619.17 (+513.19) and a low of 78,041.08 (-64.90) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 206.70 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 42 closed up, 57 closed down, while 1 remained untraded.
Top losers during the day were JVDC (-7.99%), POML (-6.92%), EPCL (-5.56%), FCEPL (-5.49%), and IBFL (-5.14%).
On the other hand, top gainers were YOUW (+5.86%), NPL (+5.83%), KTML (+5.33%), PIOC (+4.02%), and PSEL (+3.75%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-59.90pts), MCB (-58.15pts), MTL (-34.68pts), EFERT (-29.94pts), and PPL (-27.52pts).
Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were MEBL (+96.11pts), HUBC (+49.09pts), LUCK (+46.77pts), PIOC (+19.88pts), and PSEL (+19.47pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-61.32pts), Commercial Banks (-38.94pts), Automobile Assembler (-37.92pts), Fertilizer (-37.34pts), and Technology & Communication (-23.53pts).
While the index was supported by Cement (+131.45pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+59.56pts), Miscellaneous (+14.98pts), Food & Personal Care Products (+10.84pts), and Glass & Ceramics (+9.02pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 50,090.19 with a net loss of 153.06 points or 0.30%.
Total market volume was 600.72 million shares compared to 591.07m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs21.07 billion showing an increase of Rs0.97bn.
There were 271,661 trades reported in 438 companies with 170 closing up, 218 closing down, and 50 remaining unchanged.
