May 05, 2023 (MLN): Maintaining its bullish momentum, the local bourse remained positive on Friday for most of the session as investors opted for value buying. 

Accordingly, the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session with a gain of 148.18 points to close at 42,241.98.

The Index traded in a range of 360.29 points of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 42,323.84 and a low of 41,963.55.

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 42 closed up 47 closed down, while 7 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 99.98 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 57 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 56 points, Fertilizer with 28 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 25 points and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 19 points.

The most points added to the index were by HUBC which contributed 56 points followed by ENGRO with 24 points, SNGP with 20 points, OGDC with 18 points and BAFL with 14 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 36 points, Paper & Board with 9 points, Tobacco with 8 points, Engineering with 6 points and Food & Personal Care Products with 5 points.

The most points taken off the index was by SYS which stripped the index of 32 points followed by PAKT with and PKGS with 8 points, NATF and SCBPL with 7 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 77.10mn to 178.16mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs2.13 billion.

The total companies traded were 352 compared to 359 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 151 closed up, 170 closed down while 31 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 32,698 to 86,308.

Value Traded decreased by 3.50bn to Rs5.77bn.
