March 04, 2022 (MLN): Pakistan equities remained lackluster throughout the day amid absence of positive triggers as it traded in a range of 265.64 points, observing an intraday high of 44,723.19 and a low of 44,457.55.

The investors seemed concerned about the raging commodity prices amid supply shortage threats on the back of ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

On the domestic front, the continuous decline in foreign exchange reserves has dented investors’ confidence.

However, buying activity in the last trading hour has led the benchmark KSE-100 index to close in green at 44,551.35, with a gain of only 25.63 points.

Of the 90 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 41 closed up 46 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 62.84 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 62 points, Cement with 22 points, Technology & Communication with 20 points, Commercial Banks with 10 points and Chemical with 8 points.

The most points added to the index was by SYS which contributed 30 points followed by HBL with 20 points, ENGRO with 20 points, EFERT with 18 points and FATIMA with 16 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Power Generation & Distribution with 29 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 26 points, Automobile Assembler with 24 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 10 points and Refinery with 5 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HUBC which stripped the index of 24 points followed by POL with 16 points, INDU with 16 points, MCB with 14 points and PSO with 11 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 53.87 Million to 134.80 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.5.13 Billion.

Total companies traded were 335 compared to 358 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 122 closed up, 177 closed down while 36 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 28,908 to 71,027.

Value Traded decreased by 2.63 billion to Rs.4.74 billion
