Intraday Report: KSE-100 index tops 75

October 06, 2023 (MLN): After a week of strong performance, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) saw a sideways session on Friday, ending with a marginal gain.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed at 47,493.57 points, up by 0.09% or 41.19 points from the previous day, while the index recorded a weekly increase of 2.73% or 1,260.98 points.

The index traded in a range of 216.68 points showing an intraday high of 47,619.26 (+166.88) and a low of 47,402.58 (-49.80) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 116.567 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 49 closed up, 46 closed down, 3 were unchanged, while 2 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Power Generation & Distribution with 59.53, Automobile Assembler with 38.95, Technology & Communication with 36.7, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 21.54, and Fertilizer with 13.96 points.

Companies adding points to the index were HUBC with 50.79, MTL with 38.7, DAWH with 22.38, SYS with 21.42, and ENGRO with 14.63 points.

KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 61.23, Commercial Banks with 34.39, Cement with 30.19, Miscellaneous with 23.71, and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 4.88 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were OGDC with 27.69, HBL with 27.19, PSEL with 23.25, PPL with 19.37 and POL with 12.47 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 31,832.86 with a net gain of 15.60 points.

Total market volume was 246.382 million shares compared to 462.866 from the previous session while traded value being recorded at Rs7.18 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.81bn.

There were 123,552 trades reported in 349 companies with 189 closing up, 138 closing down and 22 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 6,041 points or 14.57% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 7,073 points, equivalent to 17.5% in the KSE-100.
