Intraday Report: KSE-100 sinks below 60

March 14, 2023 (MLN): In the absence of positive triggers, the domestic equities witnessed a range-bound session as the benchmark KSE-100 index concluded the session at 41,816.43 with a drop of 40.42 points. 

Investors remained cautious ahead of much awaited IMF deal and political upheaval. 

The Index traded in a range of 244.27 points or 0.58 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 41,953.50 and a low of 41,709.23.

Of the 91 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 28 closed up 58 closed down, and 5 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 69.05 million shares.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 45 points, Cement with 29 points, Chemical with 19 points, Fertilizer with 13 points and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 11 points.

The most points taken off the index were by OGDC which stripped the index of 24 points followed by PPL with 21 points, LUCK with 20 points, LOTCHEM with 10 points and BAHL with 9 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Miscellaneous with 65 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 15 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 12 points, Technology & Communication with 6 points and Commercial Banks with 2 points.

The most points added to the index were by PSEL which contributed 65 points followed by DAWH with 15 points, HUBC and MCB with 12 points each and SYS with 11 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 104.02mn to 185.25mn shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs29.38 billion.

The total companies traded were 319 compared to 340 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 113 closed up, 184 closed down and 22 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 33,454 to 80,254.

Value Traded decreased by 3.52bn to Rs6.74bn.
