PSX Closing Bell: Fair Blows the Wind

December 14, 2021 (MLN): The bourse witnessed a highly volatile session today, taking jumps and dips all day long till benchmark ended the day at 43,247 points with a gain of 370 pts.

The market was unable to sustain a stable trend as investors resorted to profit booking ahead of monetary policy announcement as scheduled in the evening.

However, during the last trading hours, investors opted for value hunting across the board, Topline Securities in their market closing note said.

The Index traded in a range of 555.68 points or 1.30 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 43,265.80 and a low of 42,710.12.

Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 73 closed up 17 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 92.58 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 93 points, Technology & Communication with 91 points, Refinery with 28 points, Textile Composite with 25 points and Food & Personal Care Products with 25 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 75 points followed by MLCF with 25 points, LUCK with 24 points, MARI with 20 points and UNITY with 17 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 4 points, Fertilizer with 3 points, Sugar & Allied Industries with 3 points and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by SNGP which stripped the index of 14 points followed by OGDC with 12 points, ABL with 12 points, MCB with 12 points and SCBPL with 8 points.

All Share Volume increased by 61.96 Million to 212.35 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.52.42 Billion.

Total companies traded were 323 compared to 331 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 237 closed up, 67 closed down while 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 25,648 to 93,739.

Value Traded increased by 1.51 Billion to Rs.6.77 Billion
