PSX Closing Bell: Dips don’t last forever

March 04, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 112,743.79, showing an increase of 756.91 points or 0.68%.

The index traded in a range of 1,159.84 points showing an intraday high of 112,877.01 (+890.13) and a low of 111,717.17 (-269.71) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 101.17 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 63 closed up, 31 closed down, while 6 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were SEARL (+10.00%), TGL (+8.84%), KTML (+3.81%), BNWM (+2.94%), and MUGHAL (+2.88%).

On the other hand, top losers were MEHT (-9.93%), PGLC (-9.89%), AICL (-4.06%), HGFA (-3.89%), and PIBTL (-3.08%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were UBL (+93.73pts), MARI (+93.10pts), FFC (+75.89pts), SEARL (+70.60pts), and HUBC (+66.83pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were POL (-32.53pts), MEHT (-31.14pts), BAHL (-27.86pts), ENGROH (-21.33pts), and AICL (-16.92pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+183.66pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+134.23pts), Cement (+89.34pts), Pharmaceuticals (+89.07pts), and Fertilizer (+82.95pts).

While the index was let down by Textile Composite (-23.58pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-20.86pts), Insurance (-18.58pts), Leather & Tanneries (-16.35pts), and Transport (-7.59pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 70,048.66 with a net gain of 435.92 points or 0.63%.

Total market volume was 206.85 million shares compared to 208.88m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs11.34 billion showing a decrease of Rs0.54bn.

There were 150,400 trades reported in 429 companies with 221 closing up, 150 closing down, and 58 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 34,299 points or 43.72% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 2,383 points or 2.07% so far this calendar year.
