March 27, 2023 (MLN): The local bourse on Monday witnessed a dull trading session as the investors opted to remain cautious due to ongoing economic and political uncertainty. 

Accordingly, the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session on Monday with a 58.32 points gain to close at 40,000.37.

The Index traded in a range of 225.61 points or 0.56 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,066.33 and a low of 39,840.72.

Of the 89 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 41 closed up 42 closed down, while 6 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 36.47 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 48 points, Fertilizer with 32 points, Commercial Banks and Cement with 6 points and Textile Spinning with 3 points.

The most points added to the index were by SYS which contributed 49 points followed by FFC with 24 points, EFERT with 15 points, UBL and MARI with 12 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Pharmaceuticals with 12 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 10 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 7 points, Food & Personal Care Products and Power Generation & Distribution with 6 points.

The most points taken off the index were by ENGRO which stripped the index of 15 points followed by PPL with 13 points, RMPL with 9 points, SEARL with 8 points and DAWH with 7 points.

All Share Volume increased by 17.78mn to 64.51mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs0.02 billion.

The total companies traded were 298 compared to 290 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 122 closed up, 148 closed down and 28 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 4,314 to 42,803.

Value Traded increased by 1.21bn to Rs2.50bn
