August 07, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 77,114.49, showing a marginal decrease of 76.85 points or 0.10%.

The index traded in a range of 713.23 points showing an intraday high of 77,800.04 (+608.70) and a low of 77,086.81 (-104.53) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 128.80 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 50 closed up, 47 closed down, while 3 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were YOUW (-6.97%), SHFA (-5.22%), PGLC (-4.86%), PIBTL (-4.46%), and BAHL (-3.10%).

On the other hand, top gainers were BNWM (+9.66%), NRL (+4.86%), FHAM (+4.77%), CEPB (+3.56%), and GADT (+3.27%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were BAHL (-79.56pts), EFERT (-77.99pts), FFC (-53.83pts), UBL (-29.92pts), and PPL (-21.15pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were POL (+71.68pts), HBL (+29.91pts), ENGRO (+19.37pts), DAWH (+19.20pts), and SYS (+17.76pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Fertilizer (-115.97pts), Commercial Banks (-97.16pts), Food & Personal Care Products (-18.19pts), Miscellaneous (-15.17pts), and Automobile Parts & Accessories (-6.91pts).

While the index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+45.84pts), Technology & Communication (+27.30pts), Cement (+24.77pts), Refinery (+20.42pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+18.13pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 49,368.91 with a net loss of 87.79 points or 0.18%.

Total market volume was 447.53 million shares compared to 600.90m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs18.39 billion showing an increase of Rs1.26bn.

There were 238,804 trades reported in 440 companies with 231 closing up, 160 closing down, and 49 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 1,330 points or 1.70% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 14,663 points, equivalent to 23.48%.
