PSX Closing Bell: Bumpy Ride

March 15, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Friday's trading session at 64,816.47 showing a decrease of 247.80 points or 0.38%.

The index traded in a range of 594.05 points showing an intraday high of 65,353.66 (+289.40) and a low of 64,759.61 (-304.66) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 99.405 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 30 closed up, 63 closed down, 2 were unchanged, while 5 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 85.69, Power Generation & Distribution with 32.5, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 28.8, Cement with 24.37, and Refinery with 18.92 points.

On the flip-side, the index was supported by Fertilizer with 11.19, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 7.27, Miscellaneous with 5.19, Tobacco with 4.33, and Chemical with 3.98 points.

Companies that dragged the index lower were OGDC with 62.24, HUBC with 30.18, PPL with 27.97, BAHL with 20.84 and UBL with 19.9 points.

On the other hand, companies that added points to the index were EFERT with 34.48, MEBL with 33.2, LUCK with 27.27, NBP with 16.9, and MARI with 13.22 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 43,157.02 with a net loss of 105.90 points.

Total market volume was 259.373 million shares compared to 315.248 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs10.12 billion showing a decrease of Rs0.37bn.

There were 126,420 trades reported in 321 companies with 112 closing up, 192 closing down and 17 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 23,364 points or 56.36% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 2,365 points, equivalent to 3.79%.
