May 09, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Thursday's trading session at 72,658.05 showing an increase of 56.24 points or 0.08%.

The index traded in a range of 564.44 points showing an intraday high of 72,889.78 (+287.97) and a low of 72,325.35 (-276.47) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 235.2 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 59 closed up, 36 closed down, 4 were unchanged, while 1 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Technology & Communication (103.82pts), Pharmaceuticals (84.63pts), Cement (57.99pts), Leather & Tanneries (39.87pts), and Cable & Electrical Goods (25.2pts).

On the flip-side, the index was let down by Fertilizer (185.55pts), Power Generation & Distribution (47.35pts), Commercial Banks (35.54pts), Miscellaneous (22.34pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (10.49pts).

Companies adding points to the index were TRG (49.82pts), SRVI (39.87pts), SYS (37.88pts), SEARL (30.84pts), and DGKC (28.1pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (68.82pts), HUBC (61.31pts), ENGRO (58.33pts), EFERT (49.35pts), and BAHL (43.58pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 47,272.22 with a net gain of 169.84 points.

Total market volume was 674.98 million shares compared to 970.33m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs24.05 billion showing an increase of Rs514.64m.

There were 266,284 trades reported in 375 companies with 218 closing up, 125 closing down and 32 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 31,205 points or 75.28% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 10,207 points, equivalent to 16.34%.
