October 04, 2023 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 47,079.83 showing an increase of 323.03 points or 0.69%.

The index traded in a range of 450.71 points showing an intraday high of 47,199.50 (+442.70) and a low of 46,748.79 (-8.01) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 100.275 million shares.

KSE-100 Intraday Performance

Of the 100 index companies 48 closed up, 36 closed down, 7 were unchanged, while 9 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Commercial Banks with 272.96, Fertilizer with 45.95, Chemical with 32.71, Power Generation & Distribution with 21.28, and Cement with 9.18 points.

Companies adding points to the index were HBL with 97.68, MCB with 68.93, UBL with 46.56, EFERT with 40.81, and COLG with 31.57 points.

KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 37.04, Technology & Communication with 19.56, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 6.57, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 5.35, and Insurance with 5.13 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were SYS with 19.78, PPL with 12.55, ENGRO with 10.78, MARI with 10.33 and OGDC with 8.95 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 31,585.68 with a net gain of 157.46 points.

Total market volume was 330.249 million shares compared to 213.188 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs7.30 billion showing an increase of Rs1.21bn.

There were 105,989 trades reported in 340 companies with 171 closing up, 133 closing down and 36 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 5,627 points or 13.57% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 6,659 points, equivalent to 16.48% in the KSE-100.
