PSX Closing Bell: The Fall Continues

April 29, 2026 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 165,823.87, showing a decrease of 2,588.36 points or 1.54%.
The index traded in a range of 4,294.57 points, recording an intraday high of 169,686.03 (+1,273.80) and a low of 165,391.46 (-3,020.77) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 448.99 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies, 22 closed up, while 78 closed down.

Top losers during the day were YOUW (-12.61%), SSOM (-10.00%), IBFL (-8.58%), NBP (-8.16%), and THALL (-6.21%). On the other hand, top gainers were HCAR (+10.00%), MTL (+4.03%), BNWM (+3.43%), CHCC (+2.87%), and HUMNL (+2.65%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-319.60pts), NBP (-292.31pts), OGDC (-189.36pts), ENGROH (-187.17pts), and PPL (-176.06pts). Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were MTL (+64.38pts), DGKC (+34.05pts), CHCC (+28.47pts), HCAR (+19.81pts), and BWCL (+15.60pts).

Sector-wise, the KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-1204.54pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-418.78pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-194.84pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-135.97pts), and Technology & Communication (-127.57pts). While the index was supported by Cement (+64.66pts), Automobile Assembler (+51.08pts), Leather & Tanneries (+10.20pts), Glass & Ceramics (+6.57pts), and Modarabas (+2.06pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 99,160.89 with a net loss of 1,680.26 points or 1.67%.
Total market volume was 1,087.44 million shares compared to 1,190.34m from the previous session, while traded value was recorded at Rs39.55 billion, showing an increase of Rs5.00bn.
There were 477,238 trades reported in 487 companies, with 87 closing up, 362 closing down, and 38 remaining unchanged.
Stocks remained under pressure as oil prices held firm following a sharp multi-day rally, keeping investors cautious amid persistent volatility in global energy markets.
Sentiment was further impacted after the United Arab Emirates signaled its intention to exit OPEC, an unexpected development that has added uncertainty to future supply dynamics. The move raised concerns over potential shifts in production strategy and global oil balance, prompting risk-off activity at the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
