May 20, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Monday's trading session at 75,084 showing a decrease of 258.34 points or 0.34%.

The index traded in a range of 884.24 points showing an intraday high of 75,618.49 (+276.14) and a low of 74,734.25 (-608.1) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 141.36 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 36 closed up, 60 closed down, 2 were unchanged, while 2 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was let down by Commercial Banks (124.75pts), Cement (77.25pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (62.34pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (44.83pts), and Fertilizer (29.86pts).

On the flip-side, the index was supported by Technology & Communication (77.43pts), Engineering (37.18pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (19.06pts), Power Generation & Distribution (18.9pts), and Leather & Tanneries (5.21pts).

Companies that dragged the index lower were MCB (58.08pts), ENGRO (57.81pts), OGDC (40.04pts), DAWH (39.78pts), and HBL (31.19pts).

On the other hand, companies that added points to the index were SYS (51.06pts), MEBL (24.66pts), TRG (22.6pts), FFBL (22.01pts), and INIL (21.99pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 48,646.22 with a net loss of 123.24 points.

Total market volume was 375.36 million shares compared to 496.70m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs16.30 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.35bn.

There were 221,342 trades reported in 378 companies with 137 closing up, 221 closing down and 20 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 33,631 points or 81.13% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 12,633 points, equivalent to 20.23%.
