April 08, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index surged 1,203.20 points or 1.76% to close Monday's trading session at a record high of 69,619.99.

The index remained positive throughout the day, showing an intraday high of 69,720.03 (+1,303.25) and a low of 68,710.50 (+293.72) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 188.866 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 74 closed up, 21 closed down, 2 were unchanged, while 3 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Commercial Banks with 399.63, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 185.25, Power Generation & Distribution with 139.82, Fertilizer with 135.13, and Technology & Communication with 125.46 points.

On the contrary, the index was let down by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 64.06, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 4.7, Property with 3.45, Insurance with 1.7, and Modarabas with 1 points.

Companies adding points to the index were FFC with 135.04, HUBC with 118.3, MCB with 117.55, MEBL with 93.41, and SYS with 81.57 points.

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were DAWH with 63.76, EFERT with 10.87, ENGRO with 9.7, HMB with 6.17 and THALL with 4.7 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 45,697.19 with a net gain of 660.73 points.

Total market volume was 335.825 million shares compared to 388.752 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs15.32 billion showing a decrease of Rs2.57bn.

There were 175,831 trades reported in 342 companies with 202 closing up, 121 closing down and 19 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 28,167 points or 67.95% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 7,169 points, equivalent to 11.48%.
