August 12, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 77,980.29, showing a decrease of 589.29 points or 0.75%.

The index traded in a range of 945.94 points showing an intraday high of 78,886.46 (+316.88) and a low of 77,940.52 (-629.06) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 141.77 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 22 closed up, 77 closed down, while 1 was unchanged.

Top losers during the day were PIBTL (-4.13%), GADT (-3.87%), IBFL (-3.72%), PGLC (-3.67%), and PSEL (-3.61%).

On the other hand, top gainers were YOUW (+23.04%), BNWM (+7.48%), JVDC (+6.90%), SRVI (+5.33%), and MARI (+3.89%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were MEBL (-63.52pts), SYS (-59.56pts), LUCK (-52.82pts), OGDC (-46.89pts), and DAWH (-39.95pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were MARI (+103.90pts), HUBC (+70.71pts), SRVI (+32.99pts), POL (+32.26pts), and MCB (+20.23pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-170.87pts), Cement (-137.13pts), Technology & Communication (-74.70pts), Fertilizer (-63.25pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-53.92pts).

While the index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+57.32pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+51.63pts), Leather & Tanneries (+32.99pts), Property (+10.71pts), and Real Estate Investment Trust (+3.54pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 49,960.36 with a net loss of 470.37 points or 0.93%.

Total market volume was 415.17 million shares compared to 420.41m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs22.24 billion showing an increase of Rs1.52bn.

There were 276,893 trades reported in 444 companies with 122 closing up, 278 closing down, and 44 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 465 points or 0.59% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 15,529 points, equivalent to 24.87%.
