PSX Closing Bell: At a Snail's Pace

July 04, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 80,282.80, showing an increase of 49.13 points or 0.06%.

The index traded in a range of 753.97 points showing an intraday high of 80,888.86 (+655.19) and a low of 80,134.89 (-98.78) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 229.01 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 49 closed up, 44 closed down, while 7 were unchanged.

KSE-100 index was supported by Cement (+42.57pts), Commercial Banks (+36.39pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+26.42pts), Food & Personal Care Products (+15.13pts), and Refinery (+12.83pts).

On the flip-side, the index was let down by Power Generation & Distribution (-41.76pts), Fertilizer (-33.84pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-31.65pts), Leather & Tanneries (-13.58pts), and Synthetic & Rayon (-5.15pts).

Companies that added points to the index were LUCK (+36.26pts), FABL (+33.22pts), MEBL (+29.08pts), NATF (+24.38pts), and POL (+23.61pts).

On the other hand, companies that dragged the index lower were HUBC (-46.15pts), PPL (-31.05pts), OGDC (-30.39pts), NBP (-20.75pts), and BAHL (-19.32pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 50,864.48 with a net gain of 93.04 points or 0.18%.

Total market volume was 496.78 million shares compared to 536.58m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs19.33 billion showing a decrease of Rs3.39bn.

There were 240,909 trades reported in 446 companies with 188 closing up, 194 closing down, and 64 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 1,838 points or 2.34% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 17,832 points, equivalent to 28.55%.
