PSX Closing Bell: As Good as it Gets

February 09, 2022 (MLN): The capital market on Wednesday successfully carried forward its positive momentum from the previous session with the benchmark KSE-100 index closing at 46,339.76 after gaining 391.81 points.

The index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 46,408.83 as investors confidently cherry-picked blue chips stocks, as per a market closing note by Topline Securities.

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 77 closed up 16 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 125.21 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 124 points, Fertilizer with 74 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 43 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 26 points and Cement with 22 points.

The most points added to the index was by BAHL which contributed 56 points followed by ENGRO with 48 points, MEBL with 28 points, HUBC with 23 points and TRG with 21 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Insurance with 10 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 2 points and Refinery with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by SYS which stripped the index of 13 points followed by AICL with 13 points, NML with 6 points, BAFL with 6 points and COLG with 5 points.

All Share Volume increased by 55.77 Million to 243.15 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.62.59 Billion.

Total companies traded were 368 compared to 364 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 242 closed up, 103 closed down while 23 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 15,297 to 105,726.

Value Traded increased by 2.84 Billion to Rs.9.94 Billion
