March 26, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 Index continued its upward trend on Tuesday, with bulls pushing for another retest of 66,000 level, which has remained a major selling point over the past several attempts.
KSE-100 Index ended the trading session at 65,906.28, showing an increase of 380.63 points or 0.58%.
The index traded in a range of 496.83 points showing an intraday high of 65,989.54 (+463.89) and a low of 65,492.71 (-32.94) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 137.147 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 58 closed up, 33 closed down, 2 were unchanged, while 7 remained untraded.
KSE-100 index was supported by Commercial Banks with 135.13, Fertilizer with 128.41, Cement with 78.82, Miscellaneous with 35.98, and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 15.16 points.
On the contrary, the index was let down by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 40.01, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 18.78, Power Generation & Distribution with 16.56, Technology & Communication with 7.03, and Pharmaceuticals with 5 points.
Companies adding points to the index were FFC with 114.99, MEBL with 101.16, UBL with 37.33, PSEL with 31.4, and LUCK with 29.5 points.
Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were DAWH with 40.31, EFERT with 17.65, BAFL with 17.07, MCB with 15.94 and HUBC with 11.55 points.
In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 43,684.31 with a net gain of 251.29 points.
Total market volume was 303.710 million shares compared to 261.194 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs12.08 billion showing an increase of Rs3.13bn.
There were 139,266 trades reported in 333 companies with 171 closing up, 143 closing down and 19 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 24,454 points or 58.99% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 3,455 points, equivalent to 5.53%.
