Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has seized 325 units of different items during inspections and open market surveillance in last one and half year (July-2016 to December-2017).
As per provisions under Pakistan Conformity Assessment Rules, 2011, the seized units, showing compliance to Pakistan Standard Specification were de-seized.
Similarly, non-licensees and unregistered units opting to get PSQCA's license were also de-seized and grant of license process initiated on their request.
Official sources on Thursday said cases against units showing non-compliance were filed in relevant courts of law. The penalties imposed by courts in different cases.
Presently, 109 items are included in mandatory scheme of PSQCA, an organization working under administrative control of Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) and mandated to formulate standards and monitor quality of products falling under Compulsory Certification Mark Scheme.
The sources said PSQCA has a complete mechanism for monitoring quality of mandatory items/products through quarterly inspections of manufacturing units and market surveillance policy (inspection, testing and certification) for ensuring compliance of mandatory items in accordance with rules – APP
