Privatisation Commission signs Advisory Agreement with Alvarez & Marsal

February 12, 2025 (MLN): The Privatisation Commission signed a Financial Advisory Services Agreement (FASA) with a consortium led by Alvarez & Marsal Middle East Limited.

This agreement marks a significant step toward private sector participation in Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), and Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO).

The consortium also includes International Consulting Associates (iConsult), Yousuf Adil Chartered Accountants, Vellani & Vellani, Power Planners International Pvt. Ltd., and NEOS Group Inc.

Under the agreement, the consortium will provide financial advisory services to facilitate private sector investment in these three distribution companies, according to the press release.

Their role includes conducting due diligence, market sounding, investor outreach, transaction structuring, and assisting in the bidding process.

This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing efficiency, reducing losses, and ensuring long-term sustainability in the power distribution sector.

The privatisation of these DISCOs is expected to improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality, and create a financially sustainable electricity distribution framework.

The Privatisation Commission, in collaboration with stakeholders, has pledged to ensure a transparent and competitive process aligned with international best practices.

The privatisation of Batch-1 DISCOs is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
