Private Sector borrows net amount of Rs.558 billion in current fiscal year

April 1, 2019 (MLN): Non-Government sector has borrowed a sum of Rs.860.5 billion as of March 22, 2019, during the current fiscal year.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)’s weekly report on loans, credit to the private sector during this period has reached Rs.557.8 billion which is 44% higher than last year’s advances worth Rs.388.5 billion.

Within the private sector, credit to conventional banking branches was Rs.374.6 billion, credit to Islamic Banks was Rs.82 billion while credit to Islamic Branches of conventional banks was Rs.100.8 billion.

On the other hand, credit to Public Sector Enterprises (PSE’s) during the period stands at Rs.300.9 billion, against Rs 136 billion in last year, reflecting a growth of 121% whereas, credit to NBFIs for the said period recorded at Rs 1.8 billion.
