PREMA takes precautions for animal health against Lumpy Skin Disease

March 11, 2022 (MLN): At Tahur Limited (PSX: PREMA), a pioneer in the pasteurized dairy sector, has informed that the company has taken all pre-emptive, pre-cautions and necessary interventions to ensure safety against the “Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD)”, a notice sent by the company to PSX said today.

“Animal health and safety is a paramount priority at At Tahur Limited,” it added.

To note, LSD is a viral disease of cattle and water buffaloes that causes relatively low mortality. Though, the disease can result in significant animal welfare problems and production losses.

On Monday, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research had announced the formation of a task force to develop a framework for controlling the spread of LSD in cattle and buffaloes in Pakistan.

Due to this disease, 54 animals have died and infected more than 20,000 animals so far, including 15,100 in Karachi alone, across Sindh on Tuesday, according to media reports.
