December 18, 2024 (MLN): The total power generation in the country increased by 6.4% to 8,032 GWh during November as compared to 7,547 GWh in the same month of last year.
According to the monthly electricity generation data released by the National Electric Power Authority (NEPRA), the total power generation decreased by 21.7% MoM compared to 10,262 GWh in October 2024.
On a cumulative basis, in 5MFY25, electricity generation stood at 50,808 GWh, down 17.1% YoY compared to the generation of 61,254 in 5MFY24.
Production of Hydel, Coal, Gas, RLNG, Nuclear, Bagasse, Solar jumped by 3.8%, 1.6%, 23.5%, 13.7%, 5.3%, 94.9%, 38.6% YoY, respectively.
Share-wise, Hydel held the majority share of electricity generation during the month, clocking in at 35.6%
This was followed by Nuclear with 20.6%, Coal with 18.6%, RLNG with 11.3%, and Gas with 10.7%.
Cumulatively, Hydel took the lead in electricity generation with a share of 36.9% in 5MFY25. Coal followed at 18.6%, with RLNG contributing 17.9%, Nuclear at 14.2%, and Gas at 7.8%.
