PM unveils $197m solarization plan for Balochistan tube wells

July 23, 2024 (MLN): In a revolutionary move, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a plan to solarize 27,000 agricultural tube wells in Balochistan at a cost of over $197 million, with support from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), according to the Information Ministry.

The main objective of the tube well solarization project is to promote sustainable energy supply and reduce dependence on electricity and petroleum products in the agricultural sector.

After the completion of this project in Balochistan, the Prime Minister has also directed to solarize the agricultural tube wells in other provinces as well.

This will help in addressing the challenges faced by the country's irrigation system.
