May 23, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to regaining its status as a leading exporting nation through economic reforms aimed at reorienting the system toward export-led growth, the Prime Minister stated during a meeting with British economist Professor Dr. Stefan Dercon.

He emphasized that an excellent balance in all policies is essential for promoting business, adding that financial policy, revenue policy, and productive policy must be aligned for Pakistan’s economic development.

The Prime Minister recalled that in past decades, Pakistani products were in global demand, and the country was counted among top exporters. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to bring Pakistan back to that stature.

Professor Dr. Stefan Dercon appreciated the correct direction of the government's economic policy and reforms.

He also highlighted positive investor sentiment towards Pakistan and praised the tariff rationalization policy, according to the press release.

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Planning and Development Dr. Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahsan Cheema, Minister for Power Awais Khan Leghari, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, and senior officials from relevant departments.
