PM once again appeals the nation to avail the Asset Declaration Scheme by June 30

June 10, 2019 (MLN): Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again appealed the nation to fully avail the asset declaration scheme in order to help the country stand on its own feet and lift the people out of poverty.

In a special live broadcast this morning, he said people can declare their benami assets and accounts under this scheme by 30th of June, after which they won’t get this opportunity again.

The Prime Minister said that government possesses information regarding benami accounts and assets which it never held before.

He recalled that the country's debt reached thirty thousand billion rupees from six thousand billion rupees over the last ten years. The rising debt had a major fall out on the masses as half of the regular amount collected in taxes, which amounts to nearly four thousand billion rupees, went to the debt servicing and the remaining half was not sufficient to run the affairs of the country.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is ranked amongst the few most charitable nations but in terms of payment of taxes, it ranks far below. He said this nation has the capacity to generate ten thousand billion rupees in taxes and therefore, urged the people to take benefit of the last asset declaration scheme.

The Prime Minister further said that the situation of the country cannot be changed unless its citizens pay their taxes in all conscience.
