PKR weakens by 9 paisa against USD

November 20, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 9.00 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.04 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.95.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.10 and a low (ask) of 277.90.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 276.50 for buying and 279.00 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 21.06 paisa or 0.07% against the Euro, closing at 293.96 compared to the previous value of 294.17.

Against the British Pound, PKR deteriorated by 73.96 paisa or 0.21% to 352.92 compared to 352.18 a day ago.

The local unit gained 14.71 paisa or 0.05% against Swiss franc to close at 314.33.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 1.34 paisa or 0.74% to close the session at 1.7858 versus 1.7992 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee fell 0.90 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.39 from 38.38.

The local currency fell by 1.91 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.06. While it deteriorated by 2.35 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.70.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 29.89 paisa or 0.11%. While it has strengthened 3.82 rupees or 1.37% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates remained unchanged at 13.39% and 13.64%.
