PKR weakens by 10 paisa against USD

March 05, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 9.92 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.87 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 279.77.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.90 and a low (ask) of 279.80.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.00 for buying and 281.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 4.85 rupees or 1.65% against the Euro, closing at 298.34 compared to the previous value of 293.49.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 3.48 rupees or 0.98% to 358.69 compared to 355.21 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 2.45 rupees or 0.78% against Swiss franc to close at 315.10.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.27 paisa or 0.14% to close the session at 1.8731 versus 1.8758 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee fell 13.01 paisa or 0.34% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.55 from 38.42.

The local currency depreciated by 2.24 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.62. While it depreciated by 2.80 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.20.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 1.53 rupees or 0.55%. While it has decreased 1.32 rupees or 0.47% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 11.57% and 11.82%.
