PKR weakens by 10 paisa against USD

January 30, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 9.94 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.97 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.87.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.00 and a low (ask) of 278.95.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279 for buying and 281 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 17.33 paisa or 0.06% against the Euro, closing at 290.73 compared to the previous value of 290.56.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 8.19 paisa or 0.02% to 347.33 compared to 347.25 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 24.73 paisa or 0.08% against Swiss franc to close at 307.80.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 0.99 paisa or 0.55% to close the session at 1.8057 versus 1.7958 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee fell 1.37 paisa or 0.04% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.47 from 38.46.

The local currency decreased by 2.55 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.37. While it weakened by 2.61 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.95.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 63.10 paisa or 0.23%. While it has weakened 42.22 paisa or 0.15% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 11.44% and 11.69%.
