PKR rises by 4 paisa against USD

May 30, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 4.77 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.02 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.07.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.8 and a low (ask) of 284.40.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282.50 for buying and 284.40 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 1.75 rupees or 0.55% against the Euro, closing at 319.85 compared to the previous value of 318.10.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 41.52 paisa or 0.11% to 380.24 compared to 379.82 a day ago.

The local unit deteriorated 2.42 rupees or 0.71% against Swiss franc to close at 342.40.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 1.72 paisa or 0.89% to close the session at 1.9594 versus 1.9422 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee strengthened 4.32 paisa or 0.11% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.19 from 39.24.

The local currency strengthened by 2.27 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 75.18. While it gained by 1.30 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.78.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 3.68 rupees or 1.30%. While it has deteriorated 3.47 rupees or 1.23% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 10.95% and 11.20%.
