PKR maintains its positive streak

August 05, 2019 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) has extended its appreciative streak for the 6th day as it appreciated by 18 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session and closed the day's trade at PKR 158.94 per USD, against last session's closing of PKR 159.12 per USD.

The rupee witnessed a mild activity in intraday trade as it was traded in a range of 79 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 159.10 and an intraday Low offer of 158.40. It stood stronger throughout most of the session but lost most of its gains towards the end of session.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 158.30/159.30 per USD.

Alternatively, the currency lost 14 paisa to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 193.11 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 192.97 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value weakened by 57 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 177.15 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 13.35/13.40 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 13.35/13.45 percent.
