January 02, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 9.23 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.64 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.55.
Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.55 and a low (ask) of 278.65.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278 for buying and 279.70 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 1.20 rupees or 0.41% against the Euro, closing at 288.88 compared to the previous value of 290.08.
Against the British Pound, PKR appreciated by 81.75 paisa or 0.23% to 348.89 compared to 349.71 a day ago.
The local unit gained 42.65 paisa or 0.14% against Swiss franc to close at 308.01.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.63 paisa or 0.35% to close the session at 1.7771 versus 1.7834 a day ago.
Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 1.16 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.17 from 38.16.
The local currency weakened by 6.01 paisa or 0.08% against Saudi Riyal to 74.20. While it deteriorated by 2.61 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.86.
During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 30.11 paisa or 0.11%. While it has fell 9.23 paisa or 0.03% so far this calendar year.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 5bps to 11.86% and 12.11%.
