PKR increases by 5 paisa against USD

December 18, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by around 5 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.23 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.27.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.10 and a low (ask) of 278.10.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278 for buying and 279.25 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 28.65 paisa or 0.10% against the Euro, closing at 291.86 compared to the previous value of 292.14.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 56.12 paisa or 0.16% to 352.89 compared to 353.45 a day ago.

The local unit fell 93.63 paisa or 0.30% against Swiss franc to close at 311.28.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value depreciated 0.58 paisa or 0.32% to close the session at 1.8117 versus 1.8059 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 1.80 paisa or 0.05% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.19 from 38.21.

The local currency gained by 1.26 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.05. While it appreciated by 1.30 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.75.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 11.62 paisa or 0.04%. While it has appreciated 3.64 rupees or 1.31% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.98% and 12.23%.
