PKR falls 5 paisa against USD

April 09, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 5.00 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.77 per USD, compared to previous closing of 280.73.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.65 and a low (ask) of 280.75.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.00 for buying and 282.00 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 2.02 rupees or 0.66% against the Euro, closing at 308.85 compared to the previous value of 306.83.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 1.16 rupees or 0.32% to 359.11 compared to 357.95 a day ago.

The local unit deteriorated 5.19 rupees or 1.59% against Swiss franc to close at 331.89.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 2.17 paisa or 1.14% to close the session at 1.9269 versus 1.9052 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 6.45 paisa or 0.17% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.20 from 38.27.

The local currency weakened by 1.14 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.79. While it depreciated by 1.26 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.44.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 2.43 rupees or 0.87%. While it has fell 2.22 rupees or 0.79% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 11.87% and 12.12%.
