PKR falls 5 paisa against USD

December 16, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 5.36 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.17 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.12.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.15 and a low (ask) of 278.05.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.50 for buying and 279.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 1.22 rupees or 0.42% against the Euro, closing at 292.29 compared to the previous value of 291.06.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 19.28 paisa or 0.05% to 351.44 compared to 351.25 a day ago.

The local unit weakened 72.35 paisa or 0.23% against Swiss franc to close at 312.03.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.77 paisa or 0.42% to close the session at 1.8120 versus 1.8197 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 1.47 paisa or 0.04% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.20 from 38.21.

The local currency depreciated by 1.62 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.03. While it deteriorated by 1.46 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.73.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has gained against the US Dollar by 16.90 paisa or 0.06%. While it has gained 3.69 rupees or 1.33% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 11.94% and 12.19%.
