PKR falls 40 paisa per USD

April 03, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 39.56 paisa or 0.14% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.56 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.16.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.60 and a low (ask) of 280.55.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.50 for buying and 281.90 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 5.52 rupees or 1.82% against the Euro, closing at 307.94 compared to the previous value of 302.42.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 5.67 rupees or 1.56% to 368.64 compared to 362.97 a day ago.

The local unit deteriorated 5.42 rupees or 1.70% against Swiss franc to close at 323.17.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 4.32 paisa or 2.32% to close the session at 1.9051 versus 1.8619 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 15.39 paisa or 0.40% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.42 from 38.58.

The local currency decreased by 9.55 paisa or 0.13% against Saudi Riyal to 74.79. While it weakened by 10.66 paisa or 0.14% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.38.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 2.22 rupees or 0.79%. While it has depreciated 2.01 rupees or 0.72% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 11.87% and 12.12%.
