PKR falls 2 paisa per USD

March 20, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 1.77 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.23 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.21.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.25 and a low (ask) of 280.20.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.50 for buying and 282.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 33.10 paisa or 0.11% against the Euro, closing at 304.88 compared to the previous value of 305.22.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 7.91 paisa or 0.02% to 363.51 compared to 363.43 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 3.84 paisa or 0.01% against Swiss franc to close at 319.44.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 0.85 paisa or 0.45% to close the session at 1.8860 versus 1.8775 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 0.64 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.71 from 38.72.

The local currency decreased by 0.27 paisa or 0.00% against Saudi Riyal to 74.71. While it weakened by 0.27 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.29.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 1.88 rupees or 0.67%. While it has depreciated 1.68 rupees or 0.60% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 11.77% and 12.02%.
