May 09, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 18.98 paisa or 0.07% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.71 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 281.52.
Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.80 and a low (ask) of 281.55.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282 for buying and 283.4 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 96.88 paisa or 0.30% against the Euro, closing at 317.06 compared to the previous value of 318.03.
Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 45.20 paisa or 0.12% to 373.67 compared to 374.12 a day ago.
The local unit appreciated 96.01 paisa or 0.28% against Swiss franc to close at 339.34.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.94 paisa or 0.48% to close the session at 1.9415 versus 1.9509 a day ago.
Pakistani Rupee increased 2.75 paisa or 0.07% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.88 from 38.91.
The local currency deteriorated by 4.86 paisa or 0.06% against Saudi Riyal to 75.10. While it depreciated by 5.16 paisa or 0.07% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.70.
During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 3.36 rupees or 1.19%. While it has decreased 3.16 rupees or 1.12% so far this calendar year.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 3bps to 11.20% and 11.45%.
