PKR falls 19 paisa against USD

November 18, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 18.57 paisa or 0.07% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.86 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.67.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.00 and a low (ask) of 277.90.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 276.89 for buying and 278.65 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 48.44 paisa or 0.17% against the Euro, closing at 293.01 compared to the previous value of 293.50.

Against the British Pound, PKR rose by 95.96 paisa or 0.27% to 350.58 compared to 351.54 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 20.94 paisa or 0.07% against Swiss franc to close at 313.20.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 0.86 paisa or 0.48% to close the session at 1.7942 versus 1.7856 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 6.08 paisa or 0.16% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.36 from 38.42.

The local currency fell by 8.69 paisa or 0.12% against Saudi Riyal to 74.02. While it deteriorated by 5.06 paisa or 0.07% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.65.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 48.58 paisa or 0.17%. While it has increased 4.01 rupees or 1.44% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 3bps to 13.38% and 13.63%.
